Recipient of the Golden Apple Award from the Arizona Parents for Education

My children have attended Arizona public schools, charter schools and even distance learning schools. I am proud to have voted to exceed our constitutional cap on educational spending. This extra money goes directly to the school districts for classroom instruction and teacher pay increases. Additionally, I have supported a safer school environment with background checks for school employees.

I believe that the parent must have the power to make the best educational decisions for their children. With that in mind, government must not restrict the parents' right to find the school that best serves their children's needs. You may have read about my fight to find funding so that several hundred foster children and children with special needs can continue to go to the school of their choice -- even if it is a private school.
